Organic farming appears to us to be a sham. Nobody protects the name or certification. Certification can be bought and so we at Kawamwaki practice what we preach, don’t buy chemicals or fertilisers, we make our own from natural herbs and flowers, compost manure and waste and follow the principles of organic farming. Why we do this is not the financial benefit which we should get from being organic – there isn’t any – but in the knowledge that the food we eat is free of manmade chemicals and our land is better for it. If you worry about what is in the food you eat you should look around for organic farms that do more than just add the name “organic” to their produce.
